Marlene A. Casini joined the Community Foundation of Delaware County after serving as senior director for institutional advancement at the Cleveland Clinic, and previously as Vice President for Gift Planning at the Cleveland Foundation.
Prior to moving to Cleveland, Casini was the Vice President of Advancement and Communications for the Denver Foundation. During her time at the Denver Foundation, she created its advancement and communications programs and helped the foundation triple its assets.
She also led the foundation’s response in creating charitable funds following the Columbine High School shootings. Partnering with the community, more than a dozen funds were established. Casini also managed the national effort that raised the funds build a new library at Columbine High School. In addition, she was a founder of Social Venture Partners–Denver, a group of community professionals combining their expertise and financial contributions to help nonprofits in the venture philanthropy model. Denver was the third SVP in the country.
A native of Steubenville, Ohio, Casini moved to Colorado to join Craig Hospital as Executive Director of its foundation and as Public Relations and Marketing Director for the hospital. Also during her time in Colorado, she created Casini and Company, a consulting firm assisting nonprofit organizations. She also established Bonfils Blood Center Foundation and was its first Executive Director. In addition, she was an Adjunct Professor of mass communications at the University of Denver.
Casini has a Master’s degree from the University of Denver and a Bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University.
Upon graduation from Ohio State, she worked for the University’s development office. Following her work at Ohio State, she joined the Children’s Hospital (Columbus) where she also volunteered as President of the Kinder Key Auxiliary.
Contributing to the field of philanthropy Casini served in leadership positions on the boards of the Colorado Association of Foundations; Metro Volunteers, the Rocky Mountain Philanthropy Institute; National Philanthropy Day in Colorado; Association for Healthcare Philanthropy, and the Ohio Association for Healthcare Philanthropy. She is a member of the Ohio Grantmakers Forum Community Foundation advisory committee.
